It certainly was hard work, I really loved it but am not sure when I'm going to have the energy to make it again! The oven cooking is a great tip, we have the same problem with our hob too. But it was worth it and really tasty. The only thing that I altered was that I cooked the ragu in a low oven,stirring every half an hour. My stove top is to fierce even with a diffuser.
