Boxing Day wouldn’t be Boxing Day without bubble and squeak. All the leftover vegetables, along with the bacon, were fried and served with the leftover meats. Gravy for Stephen, brown sauce for my mum. One of my favourite meals of the holiday.
Bubble & squeak is also one of my favourite Christmas meals, always with lots of branston and ketchup. I abstain from it all year so that it’s particularly special!

I’m not normally a fan of Bubble & Squeek but that looks pretty good!
I like it on it’s own but it’s interesting to hear the condiment variations enjoyed by others!
Thanks Gareth, it actually looked a lot better in real life but we had to use the flash for that shot.
Your mum definitely has it right – HP is the way forward for stuff like that.
loving the look of your bubble! glad to see someone is cooking it till it has plenty of colour and crispy bits, im getting bored of soggy cabage and potato mash being labled bubble and squeak! ewww
It definitely has to be crispy, Sarah. I actually like it to be really dark but don’t always have the patience! I agree with you, restaurant-style bubble and squeak is often more like champ I think.
