Crispy Duck Breast

Stephen cooked dinner this evening using this recipe from the BBC website. We’d planned to have duck last week but couldn’t find the same recipe. It didn’t really matter because this turned out well, although he might have been a little heavy handed with the cloves 🙂

We served it with egg noodles and vegetables stir-fried in shallots, garlic and ginger finished with oyster sauce, soy sauce and Chinese cooking wine.

This looks beautiful. I’ve been trying to pluck the courage up to cook duck, so may try this dish.

Thanks Jules! It looked nicer before the sauce went all over the plate while I faffed around with the camera 🙂

And good luck with cooking duck. We haven’t had it that often but are having it more now, it’s worth the effort and tastes really good.

  3. You can never, EVER go wrong with crispy duck breast! Looks just the ticket – I like the cheffy slicing of the breast…

Hey guys – I decided to start a blog. Not much on there at the mo, but I’ve linked to your blog.

Hehe, it was a bit cheffy wasn’t it?! You can thank Stephen for that 😉

Am really pleased you’re blogging L…I’ve always thought you’d make an ideal blogger as you seem so interested in food.

Good old Jo Pratt. Her recipes are proving very useful for being 1) very reliable and 2) not scary, so even Goon will attempt them.

I’m very bad at waiting for duck skin to crisp up. I keep pacing up and down the kitchen and prodding the duck. You’ve done an ecellent job with it there.

Maybe Jo will take Delia’s crown now that she seems to have sold out, certainly all the recipes we’ve tried so far have been a success.

I had to try really hard to resist the skin, the piece I did try was lovely though.

We have duck breasts currently in the fridge and this sounds perfect for them!!! Looks great!

Hehe Ros,I’m usually quite impatient about waiting for things like that too, but I’d started cooking before Kerri got home so needed to wait anyway. Which was good really.
