Halibut with Capers, Olives and Tomatoes

Kerri -

Stephen found a recipe online which we loosely followed to create this dish: fried halibut with a caper, olive and tomato sauce. The sauce was made up of the following: 1/2 red onion, finely chopped 1 teaspoon chilli powder 2 tomatoes, chopped 1/2 cup chopped pitted Kalamata olives 1/2 cup chopped fresh basil 1 tablespoon […]

Thai Odyssey Part 1 – Sour Orange Curry of Trout and Vegetables

Stephen -

While on holiday last week, I ended up reading a lot of what I call the Big Pink Thai Book by David Thompson. We’ve had the book for a while but I hadn’t read that much of it in the past, which is why I took it on holiday with the intention of reading it. […]

Smoked Salmon Salad

Kerri -

Not all that exciting but very necessary after our week of potatoes and creamy sauces! This was dinner on Friday night and lunch on Saturday; usual salad with some hot smoked salmon. The salmon is very strongly flavoured but works well with the salad.

Scotland

Kerri -

We’ve just got back from a week in Scotland where we visited both Aberfeldy and Edinburgh. The main purpose of our trip was to relax and eat some good food, both of which we achieved. One of our favourite places was the Courtyard, a bar/restaurant near to where we were staying in Aberfeldy. The menu […]

Vongole

Kerri -

This is one of my favourite pasta dishes but oddly, we’ve never cooked it. I’ve been thinking a lot about quick dishes lately as we both often get home late and this seemed ideal; and ideal it was – quick and tasty which is exactly what we were trying to achieve. Fry some garlic and […]

While we were in China Town recently we picked up some fresh green peppercorns, Stephen bought some on a previous trip and used them to make steamed fish. We thought we’d do the same again last night as for some reason I didn’t eat the previous dish. We used sea bass fillets and coated them […]

Steamed Barramundi and Stir Fried Vegetables

Stephen -

Kerri was out tonight and I wasn’t sure what I wanted to eat, so I just picked things up as I wandered around the supermarket. As I was doing so, I realised I quite fancied vegetables and fish, so I ended up making stir fried vegetables and steaming some fish to go with it. I […]

A Sort of Puttanesca

Kerri -

I had a pasta craving today. I get these often but usually manage to be persuaded by Stephen that there is life outside an entirely carb-based diet. Today however he lost the battle and when he said the magic p word we were all set. But what to do with our spaghetti? In a moment […]

Smoked Mackerel Fishcakes

Kerri -

We had some mackerel in the fridge that needed using up today and while wondering what to do with it I noticed a lone potato lurking in the vegetable bowl. I decided to make mackerel fishcakes and spent a little time looking at recipes online. There was a wide variety of choice but I settled […]

Steamed Sea Bream

Kerri -

This was based on a Jamie Oliver recipe that was reproduced in the Observer Food Monthly some time last year. The original recipe called for the bream to be fried but in the intersts of being healthy we decided to steam it. Despite the huge amount of garlic, chilli, ginger, lime, lime leaves, lemongrass and […]
