Venison Casserole

Kerri -

We’d been talking about cooking venison for a while, so today we did. We cooked it in a casserole with bacon, onions, mushrooms and red wine and ate it with mashed potato, winter greens and red cabbage. The casserole turned out rather well – the meat was tender with a typically venisonny (is that a […]

Pizza

Kerri -

We’d planned to make pizza on Friday night, but went to the pub instead. So, we made it on Saturday night instead. We used our normal dough recipe but, this time it was a bit doughier. Not sure why. This method requires you to fry the sausages and shallots, then add garlic and bacon and fry a little more, then add stock, wine, mustard and […]

Pork in Cider Vinegar Sauce

Kerri -

This was from Delia’s Winter, Stephen has been super-keen to make it all week so, on Wednesday night we cooked it ready for last night’s dinner. The flavours were good, but the meat was quite dry. The sauce is thickened with creme fraiche which I don’t think worked very well. It needed to be thicker.

Our spice cupboard is at floor height so when we want to use anything, we have to pick up every jar and look at the front of it.  No more! I have labelled the tops of each jar so now we can see at a glance which is which 🙂 G
