Fried Halloumi…

Kerri -

…with Delia’s lime and coriander vinaigrette. But without the coriander because we didn’t have any. I was secretly pleased because I don’t really like it anyway, I think it tastes like washing-up liquid. We used mint instead and it worked well. Stephen said it was a bit like a savoury mojito. We served the fried […]

Sweden

Kerri -

We’re back from our trip to Sweden where Stephen’s team won both their cricket matches. For the first part of the trip we stayed in a small town with only two restaurants, both of which served pizza and kebabs. We therefore ate pizza: One of the opposition ate kebab pizza (perhaps that’s why they lost): […]

Salami, Cheese and Olives

Stephen -

Last night we had a simple snack of salami, cheese, olives and bread while watching television. The cheeses were mature cheddar, smoked cheddar and an ash-rolled goats’ milk cheese. I’d bought the smoked cheddar and goats’ cheese at the farmers’ market in Hammersmith on Thursday and both were really good, which meant that the supermarket […]

Arbroath Smoked Salmon and Cheese Salad

Stephen -

Stephen and I went out for lunch today so decided on fishy salad for dinner. When we got home though, we both changed our minds. I felt like spaghetti with my salmon and Stephen was craving a cheese salad. So, that’s what we did. I can’t comment on the cheese salad but the salmon spaghetti […]

Camargue Red Rice Salad with Feta Cheese

Kerri -

We’ve had this rice in the cupboard for a while but haven’t really known what to do with it so tonight we tried this Delia Smith recipe. It was tasty but not brilliant; there was a lot of raw onion, shallot and garlic in it which made it quite sharp. The rice itself was highly […]

Cheese Muffins

Kerri -

In my “things to cook soon” file, I’ve had Nigella’s Welsh Rarebit Muffin recipe for ages but never gotten around to making it. Speaking to someone I know this week, she mentioned that she’d had mixed results with the recipe and suggested I try this instead, Cheese and Pancetta Muffins from UKTV Food. We left […]

Cheese Crumpets

Kerri -

Stephen was out tonight and I had planned to use up the smoked mackerel fillets we bought last time he was out (I couldn’t be bothered to eat them that time) but I just couldn’t be bothered – again. So, I foraged around and found some crumpets that were dangerously close to their sell-by date […]
